It’s time to go to bed.
That’s what Mom and Daddy said.
I grin and giggle down the hall.
They don’t know what I know at all.

He rocks me in his arms.
I can’t resist Silent Night’s charms.
Then I close my eyes and see
A light that lifts me from my sleep.

My Dad and my Mom are the sun and the moon.
And the Christmas lights are stars where I’ll be traveling soon.
This little crib will spread her wings and fly right out of this room.
Gonna ask that silly cow about the fork and the spoon.

Singing “Doo woppy doo woppy doodle” all night
I’ll take this ship as far as she will sail on rivers of light
Way past the moon and Mars and wish them all a good night,
And they will wish me happy journeys on my river of light.

Yes the night’s on fire. It’s exploding with light.
It’s a high noon show at the stroke of midnight.
Sleds and sleighs, bells and rays, candy canes, chu-chu trains
Reindeer graze in the land of the gingerbread man
I’ll take in all that I can, I’ll take in all that I can while I fly…
On this river of light…

Singing “Doo woppy, doo woppy, doodle” all night.
They think thy’re dreaming, only dreaming, when they’re closing their eyes.
But if they saw the things that I see on this ship when I fly
They’d surely question all they believe in when they open their eyes.

Singing “Doo woppy doo woppy doodle” all night
I’ll take this ship as far as she will sail on rivers of light
Way past the moon and Mars and stars and wish them all a good night,
And they will wish me happy journeys on my river of light.
